Complementary therapies

D
istraction is a strong weapon against pain. As much as their condition
allows, patients are encouraged to do things that bring them joy and give
their lives significance. This can be anything from playing an instrument to teaching volunteers how to play bridge. Also, patients are helped to relax
by massage and music therapy.

Volunteer services

A
caring, discreet volunteer can make much difference in the lives of patient and caregiver, however small the help offered. Trained volunteers offer
practical support to the patient and family such as light household chores, transportation to the clinic, or shopping. Also, they may stay with the patient
in order to allow the caregiver to take a needed break or attend caregiver support groups.

Spiritual care

P
atients and their families are helped to deal with the questions that often arise during and after an imminent loss, such as Why me? Why must my loved one suffer? The importance of spiritual care differs from person
to person. Our team respects the beliefs and values of patients, while offering them the spiritual support needed in such times.

Family trips

L
ong-term suffering often leads to isolation, emotional and physical. Our
team organises picnics and weekend trips to the mountains for patients and their families in an attempt to lift up their spirits by interaction with others
in a refreshing natural setting. These are special times of being together
and sharing, but also of celebrating life as a precious gift.
